Ray Estill

Ray Estill, 93, of Lubbock, TX passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Ray was born on August 15, 1930, in Gould, OK to William and Gladys Estill. He had four sisters and was the second oldest child.

Ray left home to join the Air Force when he was around seventeen years old.  He served for four years and was stationed in the Kwajalein Islands during the Korean War.   He was honorably discharged.

After leaving the Air Force he went to Pharmacy School to pursue his dream of being a pharmacist.   He went to Southwestern State College and received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and graduated with honors.

Ray became a partner at Raff & Hall Drug stores with pharmacies in Southwest Texas and Eastern New Mexico.  He later worked with Fox Pharmaceutical Distributors,  Drug Emporium, and United  Supermarkets Pharmacies.

Ray’s favorite pastime was flying his airplane. He loved to bird hunt and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Ray also loved to watch Texas Tech football and baseball.

Ray was a great family man and enjoyed watching the grand and great-grandkids play sports.  Everyone who knew him loved him.

Ray is survived by his wife Ramona Estill, sister Sharon Meeks, son Mark Butler and wife Jill, daughter Debbie Givens and husband Ken, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Estill, sister Evelyn Davis, sister Juanita Barker, sister Darlene Loffi, his first wife Mattie, and his late wife Joann Estill.
