Ralph was born on November 17, 1932 to George and Sarah (Kirk) Messenger in Hereford and attended school in Friona. He moved to New Mexico as a young man and worked in Lea County. Ralph owned Hobbs Body Works for many years. Ralph married Vivian Sumruld in Lovington, NM on September 12, 1952. He was a member of the Odd Fellows. Ralph enjoyed being a part of the Confederate Air Force, restoring old military planes and traveling for air shows. Ralph also loved restoring old pickups. He moved to Lubbock in 2004 and was attending The Refuge Church. Ralph loved life and his family. He always encouraged a smile and a laugh from those around him and he will be missedSurvivors include his children, Janelle (George) Cazee of Hobbs, NM, Melissa Ruth (Brian) Parker of Antelope, California, George Kenneth (Betty) Messenger of Hobbs, NM, Ralph Lewis (Candy) Messenger, Jr. of Lubbock, TX; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a sister, Rosalie Carter of Rio Rancho, NM. Half-brothers John Messenger, Roy Messenger, He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian; his parents; three brothers, Stephen, Floyd and Loyd Messenger a sister, Elsie Larson and a half-sister Nancy Noggler.
