Phil Crenshaw, age 102, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord on May 1, 2025. He was born to Robert and Rea Crenshaw on September 13, 1922, and grew up in Joplin, Missouri. He met Ruth Treadwell at John Brown University, and they were married on February 2, 1944, and were married for 66 years when Ruth passed away in 2010.
He is survived by two daughters, Claudia Tally and Carol Beesinger of Lubbock, three sons, Larry (Donna) of Little Rock, AR, Randall (Dorcas) of Rising Fawn, GA, Mark (Shannon) of Romance, AR. 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 20 great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, 1 grandson, 1 great granddaughter, and 2 great great-granddaughters.
Phil was in military service from 1943-1946, first as a Chaplain’s assistant on Okinawa in World War II, and then on occupation duty in Korea with the Armed Forces Radio Service. He was the last surviving Chaplain’s assistant from World War II and was honored as such in Washington, D.C.
Following military service, he worked in radio broadcasting and then as owner of Brainpower Personnel in Lubbock, He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and then Southcrest Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and Bible teacher for many years.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on May 16, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Southcrest Church Venue.
Graveside will follow at Peaceful Gardens in Woodrow.
