Peggy was born to Jo and Earl Carter on September 15, 1947 in Lubbock, TX. She attended Abernathy public schools, Texas Tech University and graduated from West Texas A &M in 1970. After serving two years as office manager for the Amarillo Board of City Development, she met Bob Pearce at a Sunday School event. Soon they moved to Lubbock where they married in 1972. She began a 42-year career in special events with the Texas Tech Alumni Association in 1973-2015. As a memorial to her life Texas Tech Alumni Association has established a scholarship in her honor for “Service Above Self” recipient. Additional memorials may be made to Southcrest Christian School 3801 S. Loop 289 in Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Bob Pearce, Lubbock, daughter Ashley (Grant) Looney, granddaughter Brooklyn Looney, of Midland, brother Mickey (Jan) Carter, nephews Cecil (Melissa) Carter, Robert (Erin) Carter and grandnieces Emily and Claire Carter, all of Amarillo and cousin Sarah (David) Carter of Nowata, OK. Peggy loved music, especially Christian songs and never tired of hearing selections that reassured her of God’s promises.
