Peggy Jerrene Landes was born on October 20, 1942, to Millard and Velma (Love) Smith in Haskell, Texas. She attended Rochester High School where she was a Majorette twirler, and an all-star basketball player. On June 19, 1970, Peggy married the love of her life, Russell Landes.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Landes; sons, Craig Stapp, Mitch Bateman and husband, Chet Sconyers, Cory Bateman and wife, Misty, Todd Landes and wife, Laura; sisters, JoAnn Dutton and Fern Torian; granddaughters, Stormy Conner, Windy Perry, Kenzie Bateman, Kaitlyn Hindman, Kalyn Middlebrook, Shelbi Landes; grandsons, Jacob Conner and wife, Tracy, Nathan Stapp, Jacob Hindman, and Chance Stapp; and seven great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Velma Smith; and daughter, Teri Conner.
