Peggy Janice Lee peacefully departed to be with Jesus in Lubbock, Texas, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Peggy was born to Sarah (Bybee) and Roy “Buster” Chisum in Jayton, Texas, on December 30, 1933. Peggy was raised by William and Willie (Momma Willie) Bybee in Jayton, Texas, and attended Jayton High School, where she participated in basketball, cheerleading, and, as no surprise to many, was voted “Most Popular Girl” her senior year. She went on to marry Jerry Mark Lee on June 20, 1951, and together they settled in Lubbock in 1960, where they proudly raised their four children and enjoyed many years full of love and laughter. Peggy worked for the United States Postal Service and was a faithful Christian. A deep trust and love in God graced Peggy’s life. She demonstrated her faith, love, and hope in her interactions with those around her. Many will miss her unwavering friendship, positivity, and wisdom. Peggy never knew a stranger and was a friend to all who met her. May her memory be our blessing.
She was, and will continue to be, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, GG, and friend. Peggy faithfully and lovingly embraced all of her roles. Peggy took pride in taking care of her family and was actively involved in a women’s bible study group for over 30 years. This group filled her spirit with love, which she was glad to share by mentoring other women. Peggy was involved in the Lake Ridge Ladies group and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her beloved friends. Her kindness and sweet spirit touched everyone who crossed her path. Peggy led by example and never hesitated to help others, no matter how great or small the need. Peggy lived as a vibrant and accepting spirit with humor and laughter, compassion and wisdom, leaving this world a better place because of her presence. To have loved her and to be loved by her is a gift that will live forever.
