Paul D. Gilbert

Paul David Gilbert’s family will celebrate his 86 years of life at 11:30 am on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. The family will gather to recite the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Seating is limited, face coverings are mandatory, and the staff will enforce social distancing in compliance with state regulations. These precautions are to ensure that the family, staff, and our community are safe. A recording of the service will be available Friday, December 18, 2020, on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On September 2, 1934, Paul was born to Gordon and Violet Gilbert in Wimberly, TX. He married Katherine Syring Gilbert in Levelland on March 30, 1959. They were married for 53 years until her passing. He then married Carylon Veretto on April 4, 2013, in Levelland.Survivors include his wife, Carylon Veretto; children, Andy (Enera) Gilbert, Diane (Angel) De Luna, David (Angie) Gilbert, Chris (Ginger) Gilbert, Joseph (Carrie) Gilbert, Aaron (Leska) Gilbert; and grandchildren, Steven Gilbert, Jillian Hale, Katherine Hale, Phillip Bowman, Addison Sharp, Carly Jones, Joshua Gilbert, Christian Gilbert, Caroline Gilbert, Charlie Gilbert, Emily Gilbert, Ethan Gilbert, Eleanor Gilbert, Malachi Gilbert, Vivian Gilbert, Elijah Gilbert; and seven great-grandchildren.Paul served in the army from 1957 through 1959 prior to marrying Kay. He loved being an electrician for Cass-Fitz in Levelland for 24 years. He then worked for Mobil oil for 20 years. He enjoyed the friendships he formed working for Cass and Mobil and nurtured those long-term relationships. Following his retirement from Mobil, he joined forces with his sons David and Chris, building custom homes in Lubbock.He was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, where he served as financial secretary for much of that time. He loved serving and volunteering in many fundraising activities, including the annual sausage festival.He loved gardening and enjoyed trips to the mountains of New Mexico, where he would get away as often as possible with his family. He loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
