The family of Ollie Eugene Seymore will celebrate his life of 68 years at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2022, with family at his side. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page and sign his virtual guestbook. On February 14, 1954, Ollie Eugene Seymore was born, the second of four children, to Leon Derwood “L. D.” and Norma June (Carriere) Seymore in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Ollie came into this world on Valentine’s Day and left on Cinco De Mayo – the boy had timing! Although born in Louisiana, Ollie’s mom moved the family to Baytown, Texas as soon as possible. Ollie then went to grow up in Baytown and graduate from Ross Sterling High School. However, Ollie spent his childhood summers in Lubbock, Texas – where he eventually made a home with his wife, Connie (Turner) Seymore. Ollie and Connie shared 34 years of marriage. They were married in West Salem, Oregon on August 20, 1988.Ollie attended Texas Tech where he received enough hours to graduate two-fold, but he just loved being a Red Raider too much. In fact, Ollie would never miss a Texas Tech sporting event and remained an avid fan throughout his life. Although indecisive on majors, Ollie enjoyed and excelled in mathematics. Ollie used his math skills when he pursued a career in surveying. He spent several years working with Hugo Reed and the City of Lubbock as a surveyor and eventually retired from both.Ollie and Connie did not have any “children” of their own, but they helped raise countless kids. In the neighborhood, everyone knew, and everyone had an Uncle Ollie. As to his nieces and nephews, he loved them fiercely. Ollie and Connie also had plenty of furred, finned, and feathered babies. Ollie showed his big heart through his love and commitment to animals.Survivors include his wife, Connie Seymore; and siblings, Everett (Debbie) Seymore, Robert (Sharon) Seymore; and Becky Spurlock; nieces and nephews, Madison Seymore, Chandler Seymore, Ben (Britt) Seymore, Cade Seymore, Herschel Spurlock, Malia Spurlock, Rachel Spurlock, Yarrow Cooper-Sledge, Joshton Cooper and Cami Doll; great-niece, Cameron Harper Seymore; and sisters-in-law, Nancy (Richard) Spradling and Norm Humphreys. He was preceded in death by his parents.
