Oleita Marie Hill Dendy, born January 20, 1930, departed peacefully to her heavenly home on August 31, 2024 at the age of 94, where she was reunited with the love of her life, Kenneth.
Oleita was born to Loyd and Alma Hill in a two room house on 19th Street in Lubbock.
Oleita and Kenneth were married on August 29, 1954 at St John’s Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Duane Hill, Kenneth on April 11, 2018 and by their daughter, Susan Eastus also in 2018.
Oleita was a homemaker and worked in the Central Foods office at Texas Tech for 17 years. In retirement, she and Kenneth enjoyed travelling and participating in the crafters’ Harvest Festival at Dollywood. She volunteered with Hospice and with Methodist/Covenant Hospitals Auxiliary for 35+ years
Oleita loved watching any, and all seasons of Texas Tech sports.
She found the most joy when surrounded by her 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She wanted to always have the latest ‘news’ on each of them.
The Legacy at South Plains has been her more recent home where she formed many new friendships with residents and a host of special caregivers. We also express our gratitude to the loving EmpowerMe staff at Legacy and to her care team at Interim Hospice.
