After over 63 years of marriage, Nedra and Hugh could not imagine being separated, and they hoped that they would be able to depart from this world together. Their hopes were realized when they both passed within a few days of each other at their residence in Lubbock, TX.Nedra, 86, was born October 24, 1934, in Dayton, ID, in her grandparents’ log home. She was the second of five children born to Eldon George Manning and Zenda Jensen Wickham. The family produced most of their own food, and from a young age, Nedra helped with the work on the family farm. Her father taught her how to ride horses, and her mother taught her how to sew. Nedra was proud to say that she was tough because she was raised on an Idaho farm. She was also proud to be a Texan after spending most of her adult life in Dallas, Amarillo, or Lubbock.Nedra met Hubert (Hugh) Nettle while they were both attending Brigham Young University. They were married on November 27, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nedra and Hugh remained very much in love with each other throughout their lives. She served faithfully in multiple positions in her church, but her favorite service was with the youth.Nedra had many talents. She was an athlete and lettered in track in high school. She continued to play sports with her family as Steve and Susan were growing up. She also loved music and was a wonderful dancer, participating in multiple dance performances.
