It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Monte D. Bain, better known as G Daddy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us on March 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Monte was born on February 6, 1943, in Roscoe, Texas, and made his way through life with a friendly smile and a warm spirit.
Monte graduated from Highland High School in 1961 and went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he laid the foundation for a successful career in the technology industry. He worked as an operations manager and supervisor for notable companies including Plains Cotton Co-op, Bank of America, and H. Ross Perot at Covenant Hospital.
Monte met the love of his life in 1963 in Lubbock, Texas, and on June 28, 1964, Monte married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Jones, in Dallas. Together, they built a beautiful life full of love and adventure. He was able to visit most States in the United States and was pretty proud of that as well as getting to visit several foreign countries including Greece, Dominican Republic and Germany. Monte had a passion for the outdoors, often spending his free time hunting and fishing. Having grown up on a farm he had a passion and a knack for gardening and grew gardens yearly behind the family property and kept a gorgeous yard. He also loved spending time with Grands and Great-Grands. Monte played multiple sports in high school and has always enjoyed watching his favorite teams compete with Texas Tech University being the main one. He also had a knack for the thrill of a good game of Blackjack, and enjoyed a good western movie.
Monte is survived by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn(Gwen) Bain; his daughter, Teresa (Charles Hathaway) Burrell; a proud G Daddy to his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Robert) Riggins, Joshua (Victoria White) Burrell, and Zachary (Kate Lujano) Burrell; as well as his great-grandchildren, Carson Burrell, Easton Riggins, Paisley Burrell, Easton White, Maddox White, Lydia Burrell, and Luca Burrell; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Naoma (Owen) Bain, son, David Michael Bain; and siblings, Norman Bain, Elwanda Bain Bradbury, Margaret Bain Hiller.
Monte’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
