Milton, known as Mutt since childhood, was born January 31, 1942, to Milton and Winnie Manning Godwin in El Paso, TX. He married the love of his life, Karen Williams, on June 3, 1967, at Western Hills Methodist Church in El Paso, TX and together they raised three daughters. He was a simple man but embraced Karen’s love of travel and was by her side on many adventures, in the United States and abroad, collecting his signature Hard Rock Café t-shirts along the way. His greatest joy was his family, and he always put them first. He was a proud father and doting Grandad and his love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was also a great friend, staying in touch with many that he had known since childhood.

Mutt passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 28, 2024. Mutt will be deeply missed by all that knew him. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends left a permanent mark on everyone he met. To know that he is now with Karen brings comfort to his loved ones.

Milton is survived by children, Carrie Romo and husband, Cui, Anne Rubio and husband, Jason, and Jennifer Godwin; sibling, Mike Godwin and wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Ashlee Blanchette and wife, Jodie, Kai Romo, Aubrie Romo, Delilah Rubio.
He is preceded in death by wife, Karen Godwin; parents, Milton and Winnie Godwin.

I Played mens fast pitch softball with and against Milton from the mid to late 1960's until mid 1970's. Milton was an excellent outfielder with the ability to hit the long ball. He was a fierce competitor and like most ball players he played to win. I enjoyed knowing Milton. He was a mild mannered and caring man. I am sorry for your loss.

There are no words for the loss of another great one. He was such a kind man. I was surprised, more than once, about his level of patience. All those countless sleepovers with us noisy girls, making up dances and cheers or playing tag in the dark. A million giggles, loud I’m sure, and never once was he annoyed or showed it at least. He was always smiling. He had such dedication to supporting us while the sun beat down at all those hot summer track meets. Another great one gone physically but will always remain as a memory and a part of some of the happiest times in my life.
