The Lord called home, Mickey V. Webb age 80 on Saturday, May 27th, 2023. He was preceding in death by his parents, Maxine and Alton Webb, and brother Ronnie Webb. The service celebrating his life is scheduled on June 1st, at 10:00am, at the Lake Ridge Chapel. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship with family and friends.
Mickey was born to Alton and Maxine Webb in Brownfield, TX. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School (Dallas Area) in 1961. After attending college at Abilene Christian University, he joined the Army. Serving 6 years including time in the reserves. After the service he worked for Braniff Air Lines in Dallas. Later, he owned a Barbecue business named Webb’s BBQ in Duncanville, TX.
Mickey was an avid hunter, usually having a deer lease somewhere in Texas. He loved water-skiing, deep-sea diving, and snorkeling. He was always ready to play a round of 42 or a game of golf.
Mickey was a lifelong member of the Barber Shop Society where he sang Bass. He held memberships in Texas, Colorado, and California. He presently was a member of the Singing Plainsmen in Lubbock.
When Mickey returned to Lubbock in 2009, he met the love of his life Freddie Offield Duke at church, they were married November 6th, 2010, in the Church of Christ.
Prior to his passing he stayed at the Brookdale Memory Care Facility, the family wishes to thank the staff for the absolutely wonderful care and love they showed Mickey while he was there. They also wish to send thanks to the hospice nurses for the love they showed Mickey as well as always bringing a smile to his face.
He is survived by his wife Freddie and her daughters Angie Duke, and Stephanie (Keith) Hansen. Five granddaughters – Jaquetta Brown, Chalise (Bobby) Wise of Dallas, SeLeana Duke, Dabnee’ (Kevin) Mosher, and Tabitha (Grant) Starr, and eight great grandchildren — Kaiden, Keigan, Dillon, Jaxson, Jerrick, Mavrick, Kassidy, and Azalea Grace.
