Mickey was born on October 21, 1950 to Joe and Betty (Schwartz) Joplin in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School. He attended Ranger Junior College and Texas Tech University. Mickey married Judy Briscoe on Nov. 20, 1970 and farmed in Brownfield. He was active with the Jaycees and served as President and was awarded “Jaycee of the Year”. Mickey was a 32nd Degree Mason and taught the 3 yr. old Sunday school class at First Christian Church. He moved to Rowlett and worked in golf course landscaping. Twelve years later, he moved to Levelland to open a business with his brother Craig, Joplin Operating Company. Mickey was an old western movie and Andy Griffith buff. He loved all sports and was active with Little League. He enjoyed golfing, playing softball and volleyball as well as fishing, hunting, and the horse races. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his beloved grandson, Aaron who he adored. His memories will live on and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Joplin. Mickey is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Chad (Trey-Lynn) Joplin, and Jason Joplin; a grandson, Aaron Joplin, a step-grandson, Kirklan, a step-granddaughter, Kali; his mother, Betty Joplin; two brothers, Craig Joplin, and Jerry (Karla) Joplin; a sister, Renee (Rod) Winn; and numerous nephews and nieces.
