Michael Kevin Adams was born on March 21, 1969, in El Paso, TX. He moved to Odessa with his family and graduated from Odessa Permian High School. Throughout his life, Michael pursued his passion for coaching and education. Following high school graduation, he attended Frank Phillips Jr. College and Texas Tech University, playing baseball at both. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in science in 1994. He dedicated 13 years to coaching baseball and football before transitioning to the oilfield in Odessa; however, his love for coaching brought him back in 2022.

An avid outdoorsman, Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling, back roading, grilling, and live music in his spare time. He was also a devoted sports fan, cheering passionately for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Texas Tech University. Michael passed away on April 28, 2024, at the age of 55.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christie Adams; mother, Donna Adams; sons, Heath, Will and Tanner Adams; daughter, Annie Adams; stepdaughter, Megan Durfee and husband Andrew; along with his sister, Shelby Hendrick and husband Trent; nieces, Abby Green and husband Brandon, and Chloe Hendrick; nephew, Brody Hendrick; mother-in-law, Brenda Espinosa; brother-in-law, Chris Espinosa and wife Stacy and their children.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, John Adams.

A celebration of Michael’s life will take place at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with visitation on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 am with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Michael Kevin Adams will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness and dedication.

My condolences to the family. Mike was a great guy and friend. I remember working at Ref Chem for Alliance Field Services in 2011 and 2012 and Mike and his father took care of me in so many ways. I was there cdl truck driver and despite knowing Mike from Permian High School he treated me like a brother and had a lot of respect for me. R.I.H. and ❤️.

This breaks my heart. He coached baseball w me at MHS. His love for the game was so apparent. Last spoke w him in January at the THSBCA Convention and he was excited about the upcoming season. RIP Mike

Mike was an amazing coach that reached so many players. While this group of boys were his last, they are thankful they got the opportunity to play for him. I’m happy I got the opportunity to meet Mike and Christie and build a relationship. One thing Mike always said that no one on the team or my kids will forget, “A to B. Stiff front leg, don’t collapse on the backside.” We love you Coach Adams! You will be greatly missed!

Mike was my seventh grade coach at Zavala Elementery when I was 13 years old. Even though he was tough on my at times, he never gave up on me and wanted me to always do my best and never back down from anyway. I am sad he is gone bit I k ow he is in a better place. RIP Coach.
