Obituary
The family of MaryJane Cerda will celebrate her life of 69 years at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by the procession to Peaceful Gardens Cemetery. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday, October 25, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. MaryJane Pena Cerda “Granny” gained her wings on October 19, 2021, due to unforeseen health conditions. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. We also ask you to consider viewing her Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to her favorite music.
She was born on December 29, 1951, in Austin, Texas. She then moved to Lubbock in the 1970s. MaryJane was one of the most loving people anyone has ever known; whether it be her cracking jokes with you or about you or giving you the shirt off her back, she always made everyone feel loved in their own way. This is why she chose the profession of being a caregiver most of her life. Her hobbies were shopping and cooking the best and biggest meals for her family.
She leaves behind her seven siblings; her children, Rene Cerda of Lubbock, Rose Cerda and husband Ali of Lubbock, Angelina Cerda-Palacios and husband Sam Palacios of Lubbock, Jose C. Contreras and wife Christina Spencer-Contreras of Lubbock, and Joel R. Cerda- Contreras of Lubbock. She also leaves behind her 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Janiee Benites and Leonard B. Romero; her brother, Andrew Romero; and her sister, Diana Ramirez.
MaryJane will be missed dearly by all her family and friends, who will now always have a beautiful angel watching over them all.
The family of MaryJane wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has called, texted, prayed, visited, and donated to make her wishes happen.
