She was born in Waco, Texas on September 21st, 1925. She graduated from Lockney high school, and Texas Tech University. She taught school at Roosevelt and Shallowater schools. She was employed for several years by the Texas House of Representatives in Austin and retired as Coordinator of Volunteer Services at Lubbock State School in 1983. Mary had been active with the Texas Senate Wives, as well as the Lubbock Bar wives. She was a long time member of For-rest Heights United Methodist Church in Lubbock. Mary was proud of her children and grand-children and their many accomplishments. She was beloved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Blanchard, her sisters, Mildred Thomas and Virginia Williams, and her brothers, Frank and Robert Thomas. She is survived by her daughter Adrienne Nichols, of Lubbock, three sons, John Ben Blanchard (Rhonda) of Amarillo, Hank Blanchard (Denise) of Amarillo, Clif Blanchard (Kathy) of Austin, and ten grandchildren Justin Blanchard of Boston, Adam Blanchard of Amarillo, Robert Blanchard II of Houston, Jaselyn Blanchard of New York, Molly Nichols of San Diego, Thomas Blanchard of Amarillo, Allison Blanchard of Dallas, Andrew Blanchard of College Station, Pat-rick Blanchard of Austin and Mary Blanchard of Austin, and one great-grandson John Thomas Blanchard of Amarillo.The family wishes to thank the wonderful people of Shepherd’s House for the loving care they provided in mother’s final days.
