The family of Mary Flores will celebrate her life of 78 years at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.  She passed on Monday, January 17, 2022. On December 19, 1943, Mary was born to Domingo and Dolores Terrazas in Austin, TX.  Mary was the oldest of twelve children and grew up near Austin before moving to Hale Center TX. She was one of the first Hispanic women to work in the offices of the Lubbock Compress. Mary was an advocate of Hispanic women in the workplace and was a treasured member of Dr. Martinez’s team before retirement. After retirement, Mary obtained her commercial driver’s license in 2010 and loved driving for CitiBus on the Texas Tech campus.  Mary enjoyed music and played the organ and piano at church. She also played the accordion at her grandmothers’ restaurant as entertainment for the guest. She loved dancing and was an avid reader, especially Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. She sewed and crocheted beautiful quilts for her kids and grandkids. Mary loved to travel especially to the beach. She called herself “Mary, Mary, quite contrary” because she was always up for a good argument and lively discussion Her passion was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. More than anything Mary cherished her family and friends and was like a mother to so many.

Survivors include her children, Debra (Danny) Flores, Diana (Kevin) Perrin, Benjamin Flores; grandchildren, April Sanchez, Serena (Dustin Wright) Sanchez, Jasmine (Brandon) Sanchez-Ximenez, Kayley (Josef) Crabtree; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Savannah, Caleb, Christian, Brayden, Juliana, and Baby Sanchez, Luca Sanchez-Wright, Josef Crabtree III; great-great-grandchildren, Azrael and Eliana.

She was preceded in death by her father, Domingo Terrazas, mother, Dolores Guerrero.
