Obituary

Mary Ella Cox was called home to be with her Savior during a prayer on November 11, 2018. Mary Ella “Meme” was born on August 26, 1921 to Charlie and Mary Rowell Herndon in Anson, TX. Mary Ella married Louie Cox on December 28, 1938 in Anson, Texas. Meme was best known as a faithful servant of her family and those she loved. She spent her life loving and caring for those around her even up to her last day.

Survivors include her daughter, Louan Flynt and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Sherry Gilbert and husband, Kerry; and Susan Flynt; great-grandchildren, Kade and Koryn Gilbert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Herndon; husband, James Louie Cox; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Florene Herndon; and sister and brother-in-law, Ada Ruth and Leon Sheppard.

A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 97 years on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Melonie Park Church in Lubbock. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 pm Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, Texas.
