Obituary

With deep appreciation to God for a beautiful life well spent, the family of Mary Ann Bottoms announces her death at the age of 85 on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022. She was resting peacefully at home with family at her side and under the care of Interim Hospice of West Texas.  The family would also like to thank. F. Pirtle, MD for his exceptional care. He never gave up on her. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Mary Ann was born on June 24, 1936, in Stamford, Texas. She was the first-born child of Warren and Mattie Coker. The family lived in Peacock, Texas before moving to Wolfforth, Texas in 1942.

Mary Ann grew up in Wolfforth and graduated from Frenship High School in 1954. Later in life, she worked as a teacher’s aide for many years at Casey Elementary. She remained a devoted  life-long “Frenship Tiger.”

She married Cleo Bottoms on April 17, 1972. Along with Cleo, Mary continued raising her three children Michael Dwain James, Brenda James Lehr, Todd Alan James, and Troy Newton Bottoms as her own.

Through the years, Mary Ann was active in her community and was an avid volunteer where help was needed. Always ready with a helping hand and a positive attitude.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Mattie Coker of Wolfforth and brother Buddy Coker and sister-in-law Nancy of Shallowater.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband Cleo Bottoms, children Mike James (Linda), Brenda James Lehr (George), Todd James (Mitzie), and Troy Bottoms. Sisters Tommie Elkins (Keith) of San Angelo, Texas and Martha McGinnis (Eddie) of Fort Worth, the loves of her life, her grandchildren John Robert Hoyle (Mindy), Jared Brown, Philip James (Morgan), Brenna James Powe (Josh), Presley James Villarreal (Alexis), Bo James, and Kristi James Belgara (Adam), great-grandchildren, Matthew Hoyle, Bodhi, and Renleigh Powe, Judah Villarreal, soon to be Malachi Villarreal, Nadia Belgara, and Araceli Belgara, along with special nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who were dear to her heart.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, Feb. 11th at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Pastor Ed Ainsworth will officiate.

We thank God for her life and for her calling in Christian life. Let us place her in the hands of Jesus. May Our Lord grant our beloved Mary Ann eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom. May she rest in peace.
