On September 2, 1932, Martha Ann was born to Hicks and Bessie Garner in the community of Duncan, TX, in Milam County.  She married Don Garth on November 26, 1953, in Dallas Texas.  Martha was born and raised on a working farm near Sharp, Texas.  She was from a large family, including 4 sisters and 2 brothers.  After graduating from high school, she eventually moved to Lubbock to work as a bookkeeper at Galbraith Steel and Supply where she met her future husband Don.  She was a working mother and raised her 2 sons and 1 daughter.  Those years were filled with activities at the Baptist Church, watching the children play sports, and family camping trips to Colorado.  Martha was an amazing cook.  Her culinary skills have been passed down to her children and grandchildren.  She had a green thumb and was known in the neighborhood for her beautiful flower garden.  She loved spending time with family and friends and playing games.  Martha was known by her grandchildren as Nana.  God blessed her with 8 grandchildren, their spouses, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Cindy) Garth, Jimmy (Shanna) Garth, Lori (John) Carreker; grandchildren, Aaron (Megan LeAnn) Garth, Courtney (Zach) Butler, Megan Katherine (Justin) Bashaw, Zachary (Brooke) Garth, Heather (Aaron) Hale, Emily (Travis) Warmoth, Ashley (Luke) Johnson, and Brandon (Annie) Carreker; 17 great-grandchildren and more to come; sister, Beverly Key; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Don Garth; father, Hicks Garner; mother, Bessie Garner; sister, Mildred Holcomb; sister, Bonnie Dark; sister, Helen Able; brother, Grover Hicks Garner, and brother Robert Garner.

The family of Martha Garth has designated Southcrest Baptist Church for memorial contributions donated in her memory.
