The family of Marshall Worth Higgins will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A graveside service to celebrate his life of 92 years is scheduled at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Tx. He died on Monday, July 10, 2023. Marshall Worth Higgins was born July 21, 1930, to Eber and Jean Baxter Higgins in Enid, OK. He married Jo Ann Howell on June 3,1999 in Clovis, New Mexico. Together, they enjoyed hosting many gatherings in their home for family or friends. Marshall was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas where he and Jo enjoyed Prime Timers, along with other church activities. He loved to read. He spent time each day reading spiritual books, the newspaper, and Train books and magazines. He was an avid collector of coins, train memorabilia and photographer of train engines for many years.
Marshall served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal along with the Good Conduct Medal.
Marshall is survived by children, David Higgins and wife Donna, Barry Higgins and wife Janetta, Nancy Speer and husband John, Stepchildren, Les Howell and wife Paige, Tracy St. Pierre and husband Ron, and Carrie Scott, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Jo Higgins; parents, Eber, and Jean Higgins; and two sons, James Higgins and Bobby Higgins.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Shonda, Clifton, his nurse Macy and Hospice of Lubbock for their care and medical guidance during Marshall’s transition.
