Marlene Williams Wellman passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
Marlene was born to Johnnie and Juana Williams on Nov. 25, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas. She married Harvey Wellman on June 14, 1963.They spent 53 glorious years together. Marlene graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in education. For the next 41 years, she would influence the lives of many students. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church and the Lubbock District of United Methodist Women. She also devoted many years to the women’s education group, Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is survived her husband, Harvey Wellman; daughter, Karen Rothwell and husband, Stephen; granddaughters, Callie Guerrero and husband, Gus, Alyse Lackey and husband, Jonathan, and Ellyn Anthony; grandsons, Colton Wynn, James Anthony and wife, Natasha, Colton Rothwell, and Paden Rothwell; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Lackey, Emerson Anthony, Ellery Lackey, and Felicity Anthony; sister, Glenda Briggs of Austin, TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, David Kregg Wellman; her parents, Johnnie and Juana Williams; and one brother, Artie Earl Williams.
