The family of Marjorie Daniel will celebrate her life of 93 years at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the Chapel. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Sunday, February 28, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.Marjorie Allean Daniel was born on January 8, 1928, in a small house in Plainview, Texas, to Hastey “Cricket” Perry Dane and David Dollice Dane. She had two older brothers, William Clydell and Marvin Lee, that she grew to adore. She always said that her brothers were the best men that God ever made. She used to say that her family was “poor as Job’s turkey.” They moved around and worked on farms and at dairies. It was a hard life, but she learned to be a tough Texas woman.Marjorie went to Lubbock High School and was a proud Westerner, graduating in 1946. After high school, she studied Nursing at West Texas Hospital but decided that she would rather attend Texas Tech to study Home Economics. At Tech, she learned to become an excellent seamstress and throughout her life exhibited her talent in that area by making clothes for her children, crocheting beanies for her grandchildren and their friends, and finally making quilts for her daughter, Donna, her grandson, Michael, and her granddaughter, Jade.During a break from college, Marjorie worked for Bell Telephone Company as an operator. While attending Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she met her future husband, Archie Clyde Daniel. On July 24, 1948, Margie and Archie were married and four years later welcomed their son Michael Dean Daniel. Then, in 1956, they had a daughter Donna Gale Daniel. These two children were their mother’s pride and joy! She became a stay-at-home-mom and was the best at taking care of her kids and their friends as well. She took in ironing and babysat to help support the family so she could stay home to raise their kids. Marjorie had a knack for recognizing her children’s talents and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. She was so proud of Mike’s musical abilities and Donna’s studious nature.Marjorie eventually re-entered the workforce and got a job in Purchasing at Texas Tech. She loved her work and met her great friend Martha Edwards during her tenure at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. When she retired, it was to take care of her precious grandson, Michael Tristan Hensley, who she affectionately called “Mikey,” while Donna attended Nursing School at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.Marjorie was all about putting her family first! Before she knew it, she had another wonderful grandchild, her sweet Baby Jade Summer Hensley. The kids renamed her “Mamo,” and she was the light of their lives. She visited for weeks at a time in California and Kansas and came to love and appreciate the people she met there and the differences, even though Texas would always be her home.In March of 2020, Marjorie returned to her home in Texas with her daughter Donna. They had the absolute best year together and became closer than ever. They spent every free moment together, and although they had always been close, they became best friends.Marjorie was such a kind and generous person. She loved everyone and welcomed many people into her home over the years. There won’t be a day that goes by when we won’t miss her dearly, but we know that Mamo enriched our lives, and we carry her in our hearts forever.
