Margaret “Marge” Owen met her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 6, 2016.
Marge was born on May 2, 1935, to Joseph and Margaret Ivanye in Garfield Heights, OH. She grew up in Strongsville, OH, graduating from Strongsville High School in 1953. She moved to Dallas, TX, in 1958, and served a number of years as an administrative assistant at Sun Oil Company.
On August 30, 1962, Margaret married her husband of 54 years, Burley Owen in Dallas, TX. After becoming a mother, Marge became a homemaker for several years before returning to the workforce in 1979, as an administrative assistant for Amarillo ISD. She retired in 1999, after 20 faithful years of services to AISD.
After retirement, Marge enjoyed the simple pleasures of life in spending time with family and nature. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and attending all their activities. Marge also enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds that would visit her backyard. She was also famous for her baking skills, especially her pies and chocolate chip cookies.
Survivors include her husband, Burley Owen; son, Gary Owen and wife, Trudi of Lubbock; daughter, Mindy Owen of Dallas; grandsons, Braden and Reagan Owen; and siblings Joe Ivanye and Genny Price.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Ivanye.
