Lucretia Ann Hickson was born October 25, 1942, to Alvin and Robbie Dopson Ryals in Lubbock, TX. She married Ronnie Hickson on May 25, 1990.
Ann Hickson, also known as Nana/Nena to many, lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a relationship with Jesus that she shared with everyone around her. A matriarch to her family; everyone oldest to youngest looked up to her and cherished their time with her. Ann had an amazing knack of being intentional with her time to her family, ensuring that each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren felt loved unconditionally no matter what the event might be.
Ann had a special bond with the love of her life and best friend, Ronnie/Bobo. Together, they traveled far and wide, creating amazing memories wherever they went. Whether it was an Alaskan cruise, a trip to the mountains with their RV, or to just visit family unannounced, they did it and enjoyed it whole-heartedly.
Family gatherings were some of the things that Ann looked forward to most in life. She loved attending her family’s events, cheering them on and always letting them know how proud of them she was. Her presence was a source of encouragement and warmth, making every occasion feel special, whether it was a birthday party, ballgame, or a recital, she was always there with a smile on her face.
A lover of sweets, Ann had a particular fondness for sugary treats, despite being diabetic. She always seemed to find the desserts before anyone else. She might have even kept things to herself without including Ronnie, since they were both “dieting”.
As a member of the Red Hat Society, Ann embraced fun and friendship. She adored playing cards with her friends, Her vibrant personality and enjoyment of life made her the heart of her social circle.
Through it all, Nana’s faith shone brightly. She walked with Jesus, sharing His love with everyone she encountered. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact, reminding us all of the importance of compassion and connection. If she was having a bad day, her love for others would shine above anything else.
Ann’s legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her, reminding us to embrace life, celebrate family, and always share a little sweetness along the way because that’s what she would do.
