She was always the most kind, loving person that would greet me any time I walked through the office! She would take time to talk to me if I looked stressed, and she was always so gracious for any technology help. I have truly fond memories of Loretta, and I know she’s touched countless people that she’s not even aware of! My sincere condolences. I haven’t seen her since I left FISD in 2023, but I’ll remember her forever.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I met Mrs. Rutherford around 2010, she was my substitute teacher for my 4th grade art class. I remember the day so clearly. We were tasked with drawing a picture of something we loved, something that was important to us. We were given a big sheet of yellow paper, pencils, erasers, markers, and paint. I thought I could be clever and pull a fast one on the substitute teacher. I spent 10 minutes hurriedly scribbling something on the page in pencil, and ran to tell her I was done and that I should be able to have free time for the rest of the class. Mrs. Rutherford laughed and glanced at my “artwork” with great care. “Where’s the color?” She asked, but I knew how to respond, I had expected this after all. “Well I think it’s actually better without color, I think color would just ruin it actually” I smirked, proud of my response. She just smiled and looked at me. “Joel, we all need color in our lives, it gives us joy and happiness! Spend the rest of the class coloring your picture.” I walked back to my seat, defeated. I was too young to understand at the time, but that conversation is a core memory for me. Mrs. Rutherford lived every day in color, every day adding joy and happiness to those around her. She continues to be an inspiration for me, and I’m so grateful for her. Several years ago now, I remember sitting in the pews at St. Luke’s, listening to the choir, when I recognized a familiar face. I smiled and approached Mrs. Rutherford after service, and after a quick explanation she remembered me immediately, I was about 15 years older and had a beard so I understood. But she remembered me. Mrs. Rutherford served like Peter, she led like Paul, she cared like Mary, but above all, she loved like Christ. I’m forever grateful for her role on this earth, in this community.

Ms. Loretta was a substitute teacher at Crestview for years and was my kid’s favorite sub. They always had a great day when she was their teacher. Later she worked at FMS where my children went to middle school. She was always the friendliest and her beautiful smile always brightened my day. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a very special lady. Samantha Murray

Loretta was always a joy to work with at Frenship! Though our communication was primarily done via email or the occasional phone call, it didn’t take much to know how kind and great Loretta was and I looked forward to hearing from her. I am praying for the family during this time of grief and loss, but also rejoicing in her eternal healing.

My heart is so heavy today. But, I find comfort in knowing Loretta is no longer suffering. My memories reach back to grade school as we stood in the nurse's line to receive vaccinations and sitting next to Loretta in the High School Mighty Eagle Band flute section competing each week for first chair to name a few. Her beautiful smile and eyes that would draw you in to let you know she truly cared will be forever ingrained in my mind. I take comfort in knowing she will be watching over us. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family and friends.
