It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Sue Billings, who went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 5, 2024, and surrounded by her family. Born on December 31, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia, Linda spent her formative years in Louisiana before making her way to Lubbock, Texas. There, she graduated from Lubbock High School, where her journey of love and care truly began.
In 1960, shortly after her high school graduation, Linda married the love of her life, Jimmy Billings. Together, they created a warm and loving family that has become the cornerstone of their lives. Linda’s role as a devoted wife and mother was complemented by her remarkable career as a caregiver for young children. For 40 wonderful years, she operated “Linda’s Daycare,” a beloved institution where children flourished under her nurturing guidance. A testament to her extraordinary kindness, many of the children who thrived in her care returned to bring their own little ones to “Miss Linda,” creating bonds that spanned generations.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Billings; her daughters, Melissa (Kurt) Williams, and Sabrina (Robbie) James; and her cherished grandchildren, Troy (Caroline) Williams, Courtney (Ryan) Bloomer, Zachary Martinez, Abby James, and Aaron James. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren who will forever carry her spirit—Titus Bloomer, Wesley Williams, and Layla Grace Moreno.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Smith; mother, Jessie Baker and step-father, Conway Bob Baker; her beloved daughter, Vicki Billings, aunt and uncle, Onnie and Bob Franklin, and cousins, Dolores Franklin, and Robert Franklin
A celebration of Linda’s remarkable life will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and the love she shared with all.
Linda’s family suggest memorial donations to a charity of your choice in her memory. Her gentle spirit and caring nature will live on through the many lives she touched, reminding us all of the profound impact that one person can have on the world around them.
