We gather to celebrate the life of Leslie Ann Escamilla, a cherished daughter, loving mother, beloved fiancée, sister and family member who passed away on December 24, 2023, at her residence in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 41.

Born on February 23, 1982, Leslie’s contagious spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her.  She graduated from Frenship High School where she was twirler, member of the debate team, the National Honor Society, and the Hispanic National Honor Institute.  Following graduation, Leslie was the feature twirler for UTEP for two years and finished her education at South Plains College. Leslie’s journey was one filled with strength and resilience, as she navigated life’s hurdles with grace. Despite the challenges life presented, Leslie found strength in her pursuits, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and an unwavering spirit.

She leaves behind her beloved son, Maddox Dugan; mother, Martha Escamilla; brother, Angel Escamilla; fiancée, Xavier Aquino; and grandmother, Oltia Cardona, along with extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is preceded by her father, Jose Antonio Escamilla; paternal grandparents, Marcial and Margarita Ruiz; maternal grandfather, Gilbert Cardona; uncle, Homer Escamilla; and cousin, James Cardona.

I remember running into Leslie a few years after high school with her son. I remember we laughed and talked about how Red his hair was and I could tell she was smitten with him. I think we spent 30 minutes or so just catching up. We have always kept up with one another on FB, and after my mother passed away, Leslie was one of the first to reach out to me to ask if I needed anything. She was always a sweet and nice person. I'll never forget her and I will pray for her family, for peace that surpasses all understanding.
