On May 8th, 2025, Leola Fay Hill passed away at 93. Leola was born on August 1, 1931, a lifelong resident of Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and married the love of her life, Bill Hill. Together, they built a vibrant family filled with laughter and cherished memories.
Leola was an amazing homemaker who dedicated herself to her family. She worked early in her marriage but later devoted her time to raising her children, Debbie and Rickey. A true lover of life, Leola enjoyed traveling and was passionate about bowling. She was an active bowling league member, where she consistently bowled over 200, even if she never achieved that elusive perfect game! When she wasn’t perfecting her strikes, she spent time with her family going back and forth from Lubbock to Ruidoso and many other locations, immersing herself in the sport of horse racing. She loved the thrill of watching their racehorses at Ruidoso Downs.
She was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the Yada-Yada Sunday School Class. Following the death of Bill, she became an active member of the Lake Ridge Ladies.
Her memory will live on through her beloved daughter, Debbie Alderson, her husband Dan and grandchildren, Jonathan Hill and wife Alysha, Joshua Hill and wife Natalie, Shonna Cannaday and husband Jason, and Jared Alderson and wife Katie; great-grandchildren, Addysyn, Cambrie, Noah and Rebel Hill, Kaylee, Keslie and Jaxon Cannaday, and Brinley Alderson. She will be deeply missed by her twin sister, Lenora. Her family was her pride and joy, where she took immense pleasure in being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Lillie Mae Henley, her husband, Bill Hill, son, Rickey Hill, and three siblings.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Visitors are welcome to come by any time on Tuesday.
Leola’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the South Plains and Windmill Village for their compassionate care.
