Leo Wolter Cole passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 90 years on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. A tribute of Leo’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.
Leo was born on June 10, 1925 in Kinsley, KS. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Leo married Wynona “Peggy” Faye Davis in June of 1946 in Tulia, Texas. They moved to Wisconsin where they started a family and owned and operated a dairy farm. They moved back to Texas in the mid 60’s. He was active with the First Baptist Church in Silverton. Peggy died in 1979. A few years later, Leo married Genivive Halford and she died in 2000. Leo also pastored the Baptist Church in Flomot, New Home, and Loop. Leo loved being a pastor and serving others. He traveled to Guatemala and El Salvador, where he served in various missions. Leo was also a member of the Lubbock Baptist Assembly.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Wynona “Peggy” Faye Cole, and Genevieve Halford Cole, a son, Robert Cole, and a daughter, Alice Rushing.
Leo is survived by a son, John Cole, two daughters, Donna Griffith of Lubbock, and Lori Bradford of Blue Ridge, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
