Larry Patton was born to the late Charlie Patton, a worker for Furr’s Planing and Engineering, and to the late Cleo Stiggers Patton on March 11, 1953, in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1972. He attended Ranger College in Texas and played football for a short period of time before moving back to Lubbock.
In 1974, Larry married Nanci Gail Bohner and they had one daughter, Julie Diane Patton. Larry also became a loving and dedicated father to a stepdaughter, the late Stephanie Dawn McGwier, 3 years old at the time of the union. He was a fiercely dedicated husband and family man. He worked for Fleming foods for over 30 years and retired and then began driving for Durham Transportation for 10+ years, a job he truly loved.
Larry was a kind, loving man that never missed a hard day’s work. Never in the hardest of times. He was a faithful member of the Manhattan Heights Church of Christ. He loved the Lord. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and was a devoted brother and uncle and A friend to many.
Larry had a heart of Gold and a soul of an Angel and presence on this earth. He will forever be missed and forever in our hearts.
Survivors include his wife, Nanci Patton; daughter, Julie Diane Patton; grandchildren, Savannah Chelsea Parker and Christian Andrew Parker; great-grandchild, Ariel Parker; siblings, Vickie Howard and husband Darrion, Pamela Robinson, David Patton, Barbara Rodgers, Brenda Patton, Linda Patton, and Drucella McKinney; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Stephanie Dawn McGwier; and siblings, Sheila Patton, Charlie Patton, Jr., Claretta Patton-Devine, Katherine Williams, and Lonnie Patton.
