The family of Larry King will celebrate his life of 70 years at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 17, 2022, directly before the service. He passed on Sunday, March 13, 2022. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. On January 3, 1952, Larry was born to B.L. and Thelma King in Brownfield, TX. Larry graduated from Lamesa High School in 1970 and later attended West Texas State University and Texas Tech. He worked in retail throughout high school and college and later farmed for several years. He married Ramona Key on August 18, 1978, in Slaton, TX. After marrying Ramona, Larry worked for movie theaters in Lamesa and later was the branch manager for Sentry Savings and Loan. In 1981, Larry and Ramona moved to Slaton where Larry worked in the finance department for Smith Ford. In 1985, the family moved to Lubbock because Larry and his father-in-law, Jack Gerloff, started a business called Timely Sales and Rentals which he eventually expanded to have three stores in Lubbock and one in Plainview. He sold the business and began real estate investing in 2005. It was during this time that he began playing golf regularly with his friends. He would love coming home after every round to tell the family how it went and how much fun he had with his friends that day. Larry will be remembered as a friend to everyone he met. Even if he was speaking to someone for the first time, he had a way of making people feel like they were the most important person in the world to him. In the last years of his life, Larry developed a strong faith in Jesus Christ and talked to everyone he came across about how much he loved God and how much his salvation meant to him. More than anything, Larry wanted his loved ones to feel the assurance and joy of the grace of God the same way he did.Larry and Ramona had three boys, Eric, Kyle, and Brendan. They went on many fun family vacations throughout the years, and Larry always enjoyed watching his boys play sports and participate in other activities. Larry also loved spending time with his three grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Ramona King; their children, Eric (Cari) King, Kyle King, Brendan King; grandchildren, Cooper King, Sydney King, Ashlynn King; mother, Thelma Gerloff; sister, Kay (Frankie) McKinney; a nephew, a niece and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, B.L. King.
