With heavy hearts yet joyful spirits, we announce the passing of Larry Kent Hay, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Larry departed this life peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on November 26, 1938, in Floydada, Texas, Larry was a self-made businessman whose life was marked by determination, integrity, and a deep commitment to others. A true pillar of his community, Larry’s greatest joy came from helping those in need. He lived with a generous heart, always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm smile.
Larry’s love for fishing and the mountains reflected his appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life. A man of unwavering faith, he was a devoted member and strong supporter of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was actively involved in the Eagles Community Group. His spirit of service, kindness, and encouragement will leave a lasting legacy.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Hay and cherished dog Bullet; sisters Peggy Blake and husband John and Millie Smith and husband Jim; daughter Suzanne Lockart and husband Bob; and step sons Trent Gentry and Cory Gentry; grandsons Brandon Hay and wife Cassie, Michael Hay and wife Sarah; step grandsons Tyler Gentry and wife Cami, Bryce Gentry, and Sam Gentry; step granddaughter Molly Gentry; great-granddaughters Kaylyn Hay, Mayah Hay, Tori Hay, and Kami Bell; step great grandchildren Trevor and Jacobi Janz, Koby Gentry, Madi Gentry, and Walker Gentry; as well as many more beloved family members, who will carry forward his legacy of love, generosity, and strength.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Crafton and Ona Hay; sister Patsy; first wife, Imogene Hay; son Alan Hay; stepson Rodney Gentry; and grandson John Thomas Bell.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Larry’s honor at Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories in a spirit of joy and gratitude for a life well-lived.
A visitation will take place at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In celebrating Larry’s life, we hold fast to the memories, the laughter, and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
