Kaye Williams

The family of Kaye Williams will celebrate her life of 76 years at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by burial in Petersburg Cemetery. Viewing for friends and family will be on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM.  She passed on Sunday, November 29, 2020. In support of the health of her family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. The service will be live-streamed on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On February 4, 1944, Kaye was born to Carlton Cabell, Jr. and Mary Ruth (Hufstedler) Woodson in Lubbock, TX. Her childhood was spent in Levelland, Texas, and she graduated in 1962 from Levelland High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from South Plains College in 1965. After graduating, she served in AmeriCorps VISTA in Maryland and Georgia. Upon completion of her service, she returned to Lubbock where she met the love of her life, Gene Williams. They were married September 23, 1966. Dallas became their home in 1969 while Gene worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and Kaye worked at Businessweek Magazine. In 1977, they returned to Lubbock with their son, Monte, and daughter, Allison, to allow Gene to begin his career with First National Bank. Three years later, they welcomed another daughter, Melanie. Kaye was a devoted wife and mother and was a woman of many passions including art, traveling, sewing, shopping, reading, movies, and especially spending time with family, friends and her pets. Lengthy adventures by car to several National Parks and other landmarks across the United States with Gene and their children were special times for Kaye. She was a stay-at-home mother, who also enjoyed several years of traveling throughout Texas taking her kids to tennis tournaments. Following the death of her husband, she fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams of traveling to Tahiti to visit Bali Hai Mountain. She continued to foster her love of travel with excursions to Italy, Canada, Mexico, San Diego and a 70th Birthday trip to New York. Kaye was an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who lived a remarkable journey of life. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.Survivors include her children, Monte (Angela) Williams, Allison Vaughn, and Melanie (Keith) McNeese; grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Aidan Williams, and Griffin McNeese; sister, Tena Lu (Mike) Seal; a host of nieces and nephews.Kaye is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Williams; and a brother, Carlton Cabell Woodson, III.
