Juan “Johnny” Gutierrez

Juan “Johnny” Gutierrez went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Johnny was born on January 15, 1968 to Toribio and Isabel (Flores) Gutierrez in Brownfield, Texas. He graduated Valedictorian from Anton High School in 1986, attended South Plains College in Levelland, and then moved to Lubbock to continue his education. In 1990, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in biology. After graduating, Johnny worked both as a chemist for the City of Lubbock and as a Monitor’s Tech at Covenant Medical Center, also in Lubbock.He attended St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church where he was involved with Raider Awakening and the Catholic Student Association. He was also a member of the Chi Rho Fraternity. Johnny was also a volunteer at the Sick Children’s Clinic, Literacy Lubbock, and gave generously to United Way.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Toribio Gutierrez, Jr., and is survived by his sister Alicia Paredes, his brother Ray Gutierrez, many family members and his many beloved friends, who were steadfastly involved in his care until his departure.
