Obituary

The family of Joyce Pitifer will gather to recite the Holy Rosary at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mass will be celebrated in honor of Joyce’s life of 87 years at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. On July 7, 1934, Joyce Idella Pitifer was born to Howard and Lillian Crutsinger on a farm in Cook County, TX. She graduated high school and married Michael J. Pitifer at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. Moving to Lubbock in the 1950’s, she worked in accounting at Ralston Purina for a number of years.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Leonard) Williams, and son, Tony Pitifer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth West

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Pitifer, Sr.; sons, Michael Pitifer, Jr. and James Pitifer; and a sister, Valerie West.
