Joyce Janett Williams was born in Macon, Georgia, (Bibb County) on June 30, 1936, to the late Mary Annie Akin (Holder) and Fletcher Jewell Akin and was later considered a daughter by her stepfather Norman Holder. Joyce had two brothers and five sisters. She graduated from Douglas County High and received an Associate’s degree in education from Grayson County College in 1983. She married the late Weldon Wayne Williams on August 30th, 1963. Joyce and Weldon Williams had one child, Alan Adrian Williams.Joyce was a beloved member of the community and could frequently be found leading programs for children at Parkside Baptist Church. Joyce loved God, her family, and needle work. On the weekends you could always find Joyce and Weldon camping by the lake. Joyce was always willing to help anyone and knew no stranger. She supported her family and grandchildren in all their activities.Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Norman Holder; as well as her sisters, Melba Ann Schumake, Barbara June Mabrey, Alice Evelyn Newton, and Nonnie Faye Akin.Joyce is survived by her son, Alan Williams; brothers, Richard and Danny Holder; sister, Mary Lou England; and four grandchildren, Aaron Williams, Kyle Williams, Sidney Williams and Alex Williams.
