On September 28, 1977, Joni Leigh was born to Victor and Stacey Smith in Plainview, Texas. She graduated from Floydada High School as senior class president in 1995. Joni attended Texas Tech, then went to flight attendant school, and was based in Chicago as an American Airlines flight attendant for 18 years. She met Joseph “Joe” Thomlinson, and they had two sons, Finn and Conrad. She and her 2 sons moved to Lubbock in 2016 and worked as a Senior Payroll Specialist, most recently for ADP. In 2019, her daughter Maddox was born. She will be remembered as being a wonderful mother to her 3 children and for her witty sense of humor. Her personality was sparkly, just like her designer shoes and handbags. She had a class and demeanor of her own. She enjoyed traveling with her children, listening to podcasts, and the Dave Matthews band. Joni was a supportive soccer and basketball mom to her boys. She was a loyal friend to anyone and will be missed by all who knew her.
Conrad was born on August 13, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Bowie, then Cooper West elementary schools and had just started the 4th grade. He played soccer, but his love was for basketball. You would find him practicing basketball shots every day or watching his favorite team, the Lakers. He loved John Deer tractors, bulldozers, chocolate cereal, and Lucky Charms. Conrad was kind, loving, and could give you a HUG that you wouldn’t soon forget. His blue eyes twinkled. His best friends were his big brother Finn, little sister Maddox, and Cousin Corina—they were the motley crew! Conrad was a great friend and never wanted anyone to feel left out. He loved art and drawing, Pokemon, pranks, and playing video games with his brother and dad.
