Devoted father and loving husband, Jon was 71. Jon was born February 1, 1950, in Moundsville, WV, to Sam and Flora “Virginia” (Riebe) Furbee. He was part of the last graduating class at Moundsville High School in 1968. He went on to get a degree in Pharmacy from West Virginia University in 1973. After six years as a pharmacist, Jon decided to pursue a career in medicine as an anesthesiologist. He graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983. Jon then went on to complete his internship and residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He would work there until 2005. He then moved to Lubbock, TX, to run the OR at Covenant Health and later began practicing in Lubbock.Jon was a larger-than-life figure. No one who met him felt anything less than love. Whatever he put his mind to, he would accomplish. Jon loved to golf, go to the movies, and enjoyed a passion for food and wine. He was also an avid Ohio State fan and was known for his infectious smile and a laugh that would quickly become contagious.Jon was preceded in death by his father, Sam, and his mother, Virginia.He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Overton), his daughter, Jennifer (Greg) McClure, and son, Jordan (Erin); his brothers, Sam (Sue) and Dave (Marylou); his niece, Katie (Eric) Davis and grand niece and nephew, Evelyn and Oliver, his niece, Kelsey, and nephews, Caleb and Andrew. He is also survived by Ryan Carmichael, Kristen (Jason) Strefling, and their kids, Jonathan, Sydney, and Ava, as well as his brother-in-law, Dwight (Marianne) Overton, and mother-in-law, Emmie “Memaw” Overton.
