John “Eddie” Edward Sparks Jr.

John Edward Sparks Jr., 62 of Lubbock, TX, passed away on Thursday, March 9. Please share stories of Mr. Sparks with his family here on this page.

John Edward “Eddie” was born November 3, 1960, to John and Ruth Sparks.  He lived in Lubbock most of his life but did spend 10 of his childhood years in Alabama and Georgia before moving back to Lubbock. Eddie graduated from Monterey High School in 1979.

Eddie was a successful business owner for over 27 years and thought of many of his customers as family. He never met a stranger and was always happy to share his vast knowledge of languages, music, and trivia with everyone.  Eddie truly lived his best life every day. His joy and enthusiasm were contagious to everyone around him; he was loved by many and tamed by none.

Eddie is survived by his sister Teresa Regan of Lubbock, niece Sydney Webb of Fort Worth, nephew Graham Regan of Lubbock, and one aunt and five cousins.  Eddie also had a “bonus” family that he connected with many years ago:  his “bonus” sister, Robin Couto of Nashville, NC, and two aunts and many cousins in Kentucky, all of whom he loved and appreciated.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents John and Ruth Sparks.
