Joe Lamb was born September 27, 1947, to A.J. and Gertrude Lamb in Quanah, TX. He Married Linda Gatewood on September 30, 1967, in Crosbyton, Texas and they welcomed their only child, Jodi Lynn Lamb on December 7, 1967, and only grandchild Holley Jo’L Lamb on October 10, 2001. Joe was a lineman until 1981, when he opened J and L Auto Sales, and continued until 2021 when he retired.
Joe and his brother Ed and friend Buddy Hart did a “thing” in the mid-’70s with a Vega and thus began the love we all share for drag racing to this day. After this, a lot of fishing was involved until about 1992 when Joe quit the bars and he and Linda both started racing. They both won championships over the years and made many friends at the racetracks.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, A.J. Lamb, mother Gertrude Lamb, loved stepmother Frankie Lamb, brother Albert Lamb, brother Earle Lamb, sister Wanda Faye Lamb, and nephew Clinton Lee Lamb.
Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Linda Lamb, daughter Jodi Lamb, and granddaughter Holley Lamb all of Lubbock, Tx, brother Bill Lamb of Floydada, Tx, brother Ed Lamb of Lubbock, Tx, brother Murl Lamb, his much-loved cocker spaniels Smoki and Bandit, lots of nieces and nephews and many many many friends.
