Joe Dale Gillispie passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, August 13, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 57 years on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10:30 am at Turning Point Community Church. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery. He graduated from Claude High School in 1982 and went on to study at Texas Tech. While studying there, Joe continued his passion for sports by officiating high school and college basketball, football, and baseball for the Texas Association of Sports Officials from 1982-2014.He married the love of his life, Susan Danette Gillispie, on August 13, 1988, at Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, and, together, their faith in God was the basis on which they built their lives and the lives of their children. God gave Joe and Susan three wonderful sons who are their life’s work and legacy.Joe enjoyed helping in the local community by volunteering in different capacities such as Chaplain, Firefighter, Board Member for Woodrow Volunteer Fire Department for almost two decades, serving as President and Coach for Lubbock Cooper Youth Baseball League, and helping at his local church.His love of nature showed in starting All Seasons Property Care with his aunt, Martha, as well as operating as Grounds Supervisor for Lubbock Cooper Independent School District for 15 years and working the cattle and harvesting the crops at the family farm with his granddad, dad, brother, and his sons.Joe lives on in the hearts and minds of all he loved and all who loved him – and there are so many.Survivors include his wife, Susan Gillispie; their children, Matthew (Ali) Gillispie, David (Savannah) Gillispie, Brian (Emileigh) Gillispie; grandchildren, Blakelee Grace, Tucker Kash, and Paizleigh Gillispie, who will be born in a few months; mother, Nancy Gillispie; and siblings, Charles (Kristi) Gillispie and Cheryl (Mike) Sherrer.He was preceded in death by his father, Don Gillispie; grandparents, Samuel and Mary Gillispie, Pete and Lily B. Bagwell; and aunt, Martha Gillispie.
