Joe Edd Sanders was born January 20, 1936, to John and Virgie (Williams) Sanders in Lamar County, TX. He married the love of his life, Shirley Perry on January 22, 1955, in Crosbyton, Texas.
The couple lived in Lubbock where Joe began his career in steel work and metal fabrication at Greer Iron Works, Pioneer Fence Company, Scott Manufacturing, Ranger Metal Fabricators, and Agramatic Corporation. Ultimately, Joe and Shirley founded Sanco Metal Fabricators, LLC. Sanco was later owned by his son, Danny Sanders. Mitchell Sanders, Joe’s grandson, is now co-owner along with Zac Mayers.
Joe and Shirley were saved and baptized at Victory Baptist Church in Lubbock. Later in life he was a member of Trinity Church. It was not uncommon to see his Bible nearby, and of course his favorite verses were from Psalms.
Joe and Shirley had a host of various interests that were often shared with friends and family. They enjoyed bowling in various leagues and square dancing. Because of their love for the outdoors, they spent many weekends motorcycle riding and RV camping with friends. Eventually they purchased a getaway home in Ruidoso, New Mexico often sharing their passion for the mountains with family.
Joe’s love of music and singing began during his childhood leading him to record a record when he was only 15 years old. One of Joe’s great passions was playing with his “Country Boys” band members: Bob Simpson, Raymond Belew, Clifford Martin and Ray Martin. They spent many weekends performing at venues including local radio stations, retirement homes, county fairs, jamborees, and special events. He never lost his love for music.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife Shirley Craze; his children, Danny (Cheryl) Sanders, Lane (Debra) Sanders, and Kayla (David) Fuller; his grandchildren, Rebecca Beadles, Mitchell Sanders, Kimberly (Adam) Copeland, Amy (Byron) Norton, Tamara (Tanner) Vickers, Eric (Elyssa) Sanders, and Cori (Michael) Moffitt; his great-grandchildren, Adam Ray Copeland, Blake Beadles, Caleb Copeland, Creighton Vickers, Ruby Norton, Abigail Copeland, Addyson Vickers, Warren Moffitt, Joshua Copeland, Scarlett Norton, Brayden Sanders, Bridget Moffitt, Brockston Sanders, and Rachel Moffitt; and a sister, Jaquetta Gilliam.
