You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy by selecting the icon.Mary Joann Thomson was born in Paducah, Texas to Joel Forest Thomson and Mary Ann Hendricks Thomson on August 5, 1928. Joann attended schools in Paducah, Littlefield and graduated from Whitharral High School and lived in Whitharral, Sudan, Littlefield, Breckenridge and Amarillo, Texas. She was a homemaker and kindergarten and first grade teacher. She completed her BS in Elementary Education at Texas Tech University in 1972. She retired from her first-grade teaching job at the Littlefield Elementary School in 1988.Joann loved her family, church and to travel. She travelled the US by motorhome and enjoyed ocean cruises. She spent many hours boating and fishing, loved to read, play her piano and teach Sunday school. She was a lifetime prayer warrior for her family and friends.Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Mary; three husbands, Billy Jim Williams, Kenneth Glen Bales and Randall Hoyt Garrett; younger sisters, Jolene McNeese and Gloria Jackson; youngest son, Michael Williams; stepson Tommy Bales; stepdaughter Jeri Donna Bales.Joann is survived by her youngest sister Betty Sue Faulkner and husband Bobby of Farmington, New Mexico; her sons Jimmy Williams and wife Carolyn of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joe Williams and wife Laura of Lubbock, Texas, and daughter-in-law Fran Williams of San Antonio, Texas; stepchildren, Steve Bales and wife Sharon of Early, Texas, Kenny Bales of Frankston, Texas, Susan Wenger and husband Robert of Amarillo, Texas, Teresa Mihaylov of Carrollton, Texas; grandchildren, Lori Wilhite and husband Jud of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shawn Williams and wife Lindsay of Wheaton, Illinois, Alisha Bunn and husband Kris of Garland, Texas, Melissa Miller and husband Matt of Frisco, Texas, Brandon Williams of Fort Worth, Texas, Christine Williams of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandchildren, Erika Diaz and husband Adrian of Lubbock, Texas, Matthew Rhea of Lubbock, Texas, Scott Bales of Sweeny, Texas, Shannon Bales of Corpus Christi, Texas, Summer Cumba and husband Damon of Granbury, Texas, Trent Bales and wife Heather of Austin, Texas, Sarah Bales of Dallas, Texas, Katy Hull and husband Taylor of Allen, Texas, Christy Amason and husband Dennis of Amarillo, Texas; Anica Hirschfeld and husband Michael of Colleyville, Texas; Ashlin Files and husband Jeff of Savannah, Texas; and Adrian Wemple and wife Madison of Waxahachie, Texas, and 20 great grandchildren.
