Jo Ann Gable-Thomas

Jo Ann Gable-Thomas was born September 19, 1941, to father, Ruben Lee Fisk and mother, Inez Elizabeth Fisk in San Antonio, Texas.

Upon graduation from high school, she married and moved to France and always fondly reminisced about her time there living in the village where she met amazing people and learned to cook fine French cuisine. During her time abroad she also developed a passion for finance and worked in multiple credit unions with the military. When she returned to the United States she decided to call Lubbock Texas home. She worked at the credit union and welcomed her son John Gable into the world. In 1986 she married her love, Jim Thomas. She continued to work at the credit union as a loan officer and worked part-time at Methodist Hospital in admissions. Throughout her life, she had many passions including love for her family, cooking, and travel. She retired from Alliance Credit Union and throughout her retirement she enjoyed her time with family, and friends and being an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Jo Ann is survived by children, John Gable and spouse Kendra Oden, Robin Middleton-Robins and spouse Gary Robins, Kelyn Marouf and spouse Matthew Marouf, Kimberly Dawn Thomas Hill and spouse Scott Hill, Cody Hill and spouse Rhonda Olivas; grandchildren, Caitlyn Gable Williams and spouse Brandon, Ella Oden, Malorie Miller, Breanne Tran spouse Jimmy, Alyssa-Dawn Robbins Kiki Hill and spouse Shaun Allen, Robert Middleton and spouse Lassa Middleton Michael Thomas-Fuller and spouse Bailey Thomas. Great grandchildren John Edward Bryan Williamson, Brecken Williamson, Jimmie Thomas-Fuller, Colton Thomas-Fuller, Irylan Middleton, Ivy Middleton Sophia Valdez, Olivia Valdez, Lillian-Grace Tran and Corey Allen.

She is preceded in death by parents, Ruben Lee Fisk and Inez Fisk; brother Eddie Fisk; husband, Jim Thomas; and grandchild Kennedy Thomas.

She died on Sunday, July 7, 2024 with her family at her side.
