Jo Cornell was born in Lubbock, County on December 27, 1926, to the home of Jeff and Nola Doyle and died at 9:35 pm with sons Jeff and Jay & wife Alana Cornell by her side at Legacy of The South Plains in Lubbock, TX. Jo Cornell attended high school and two years of college in Portales, NM. Jo Cornell was married to John Cornell for 59 years and started a construction company in Clovis NM.
Jo kept the book and did the accounting aspect of the business while John was the president of their business working together side by side for over 50 years.
Jo strongly believed in hard work, and not giving up when life got tough and the future was uncertain. She also highly valued personal integrity and moral character as the most important values a person could have and lived a life that exemplified those values. Jo was a long-term active member of Central Baptist Church in Clovis, NM. Jo’s hobbies include taking daily walks, traveling, and spending time with her family. At 90+ years old, she and her friend Thelma also 90+ years old enjoyed volunteering together to deliver Meals On Wheel to residents in Clovis, NM.
Jo is survived by two sons Jeff Cornell, wife Camille with two children Brooks Cornell, wife Rachel, and their children Sadie, Miles, and Vivian. Daughter Emily Cornell. Son Jay Cornell, wife Alana, three children Justin, wife Maddy, and son Bensen Williams. Daughter Meredith Williams and preceded in death by daughter Nicole Cornell, and survived by brother Carl Doyle of San Antonio, TX
Jo Cornell was preceded in death by her husband John Cornell, parents, five sisters, Winifred West, Frances Terrel, Mary Dodd, Hazel Wilkerson, Glenna Neil (infant), and three brothers, Andy Doyle, Kenneth Doyle, and Calvin “Glen” Doyle.
