Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Jimmy Don Bailey from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the home of Gary and Venita Garza, 3401 CR 7610, Lubbock, Texas. He passed on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. We invite you to sign his virtual guestbook on this page.

On June 6, 1961, Jimmy Don was born to James Donald and Shirley (Ewing) Bailey in Lubbock, TX.

Jimmy grew up on 39^th Street in Lubbock and attended PF. Brown, JT Hutchison, and Monterey High School. Jimmy started working in his father’s Auto Body Shop in Carlisle when he was 15 years old. He then joined Pinkerton’s Garage & Body Shop for several years before taking over his father’s business back in Carlisle and continued there until this past year. He was always there for anybody who needed help at any time for any reason.

He enjoyed his country music, loved the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. He was a man of simple means and didn’t require much in life. He never wanted to put anybody out and always gave his time to others. He loved animals and had many stories to share with people.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Bailey; siblings, Carey (Karen) Bailey, Randy Bailey; and Venita (Gary) Garza; nephews, Kyle (Linzi) Bailey, Brett (Krista) Bailey, Geoff (Stacy) Bailey, Brady (Hayli) Garza, Dawson Garza, and Colton Garza; four great nephews and four great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Donald Bailey, and a sister-in-law, Jennie Bailey.

The family of Jimmy Bailey has designated HOSPICE OF LUBBOCK for memorial contributions donated in his memory.

Jimmy worked at Pinkerton’s for a long time and did lots of repairs for us (Jones Produce and Jones Farms). There was always some joking around as well. We thought a lot of Jimmy. I even remember talking with him about his grandparents that used to live in the old farm house where we lived. Prayers to all of you. With fond memories of Jimmy….Patti & Casey Jones

So very sorry for your loss.

I lived next to the Bailey’s body shop from the time they moved in until I moved. I later sold my to Jimmy. He was one of the best friends I ever had. He took care of all my body work business. Sorry to hear of his passing. Praying for his mother and family.

Jimmy, to me, you will always be the little boy with his fishing pole walking to Clapp Park on 39th Street. along with your bothers Carey and Randy. This was published in the Lubbock AJ Newspaper. Doyle and I loved you and your family.
