Lonnie Jim Dulin entered into the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Lonnie Jim was born to the late James Dulin and Leo Corley Dulin in Lubbock on November 3, 1943. After graduating from Tahoka High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Lee Morris, in 1962. They were married for 57 years. In their later years, Jim’s life centered around caring for Gloria. She preceded him in death in December of 2019. Throughout his life, he was involved in many civic organizations and served on several boards, including Toastmasters, Lions Club, Family Promise of Lubbock, and Southcrest Christian school board. He was very active in his church, Southcrest Baptist, where he served as a deacon.
After serving the people of Texas as a Department of Public Safety Trooper for 25 years in Lubbock, Swisher, and Bailey Counties, Jim served as a Lubbock County Justice of the Peace until his retirement.
Survivors include his children, Tom Dulin and Terri Nichols (Stacy); five grandchildren: Thomas Dulin (Alyssa), William Pollard (Taylor), Calli Middlebrook (Patrick), Carri Nichols, and Weston Nichols; three great-grandsons, Grayson Pollard, Wade Middlebrook, and James Dulin; and his brother, Ronnie Dulin (Virginia). Jim is also survived by his wife of two years, Lynda Martin Dulin, and her children and grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Loni Toy Dulin, his brother, Jack Dulin, and his sister Jimmye Lou Cutlip.
The family will host a time of visitation and fellowship on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm at Lake Ridge Chapel. Memorial service will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:00 am with committal following at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, TX.
The family has designated Family Promise of Lubbock, or Southcrest Greater Global Missions Fund for memorial contributions donated in his memory.
