To the Family of Mr. Ashmore, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Mr. Ashmore is truly my favorite teacher I have ever had and a wonderful one at that. His passion for history, his kindness, and his southern charm made his classroom feel like home, especially when I was new to the school. He reminds me so much of my own father, who actually always dreamed of being a history teacher, and I felt a nice connection to him because of that. History has always been my favorite subject and to have a teacher like him, made it all the more meaningful. His passion and storytelling made history come alive in a way I’ll never forget. Beyond his lessons, he had a way of making his students feel seen, valued, and comfortable. I will always remember his stories, his love for music, and the way he made learning fun. He left a lasting impact on so many, and I am so grateful to have been one of his students. I met his daughter, Justice, once at a clothing store I worked at and actually shared my employee discount with her—because anyone who knew such an inspiring man deserved to receive the same kindness he shared with others. I hope you can find comfort in knowing how loved and respected he was by so many. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and I will always carry his memory and teachings with me. With deepest sympathy, Natalie

Boyce Wyrick left a message on February 22, 2025:
Jim Bob was a student at Coronado High School where he performed in the orchestra for his three years there. Jim Bob was a “funny cat” and a delight to teach. His love of Western music was quite evident. He could not only knock out a country tune but he could most often tell you all about it - the artists, the recordings. The South Plains has lost an ambassador for Western music. Prayers are sent up to Heaven for his eternal rest.

Jim Bob, I will miss all the talks we had about our sweet mommas. You helped me through the hardest time of losing my mom.
